It all started when we landed onto the French land. Myself praising the beauty of the green beautiful lushes, and my husband recalling the last time when he visited France. Since he had been there, he was always ahead in all the activities or sightseeing we did. Explaining everything beforehand with much more excitement than our tour guide. Finally we reached the highly acclaimed Eifel Tower and I was stunned by the beauty of it although a bit annoyed with so much crowd around. But since it’s supposed to be filled with tourists so can’t complain much. “C’mmon its Eifil Tower and am in Paris, the Magical city.. Relax and have fun”.. I told myself.
We went at the top, and hubby again pointed towards a stand at the road ( which by the way was looking like an ant ).. “ Here is the Dosa Stand, we had them during my last visit “ I was like.. “DOSAAA” ??? In Paris ??? But he was so enthusiastic to take me to the “Dosa Stand”, I thought, “Cool ! So Indians are selling Dosa in front of Eifel Tower” .. this is really a great example of India Shining ( Ok, that’s not what I thought, but still !! ) When we reached there to the stand, rushing from the huge crowd ( again, annoying )…. Well ! It was a French Crepes stand.. and OBVIOSULY not the Dosa Stand. But looking at the proud smile at hubby’s face.. I tell everyone now, “you know there are Dosa stand in front of Eifel Tower !! ” :D
Coming to the recipe.. These crepes were a real treat to make, simple and melting in mouth. I have never tried them before so found them even more appealing, a quick treat for a kids party or late night pangs. Have them warm in breakfast and you will find yourself wanting more for brunch. Adding chocolate makes them even more tempting and delicious. With almost zero nutritional benefits ( mind it ! ) they still can be a sweet cheat in your health plans.
- 1 cup APF
- 1 Egg
- 1 cup Milk
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Essence
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- Butter for brushing
- 1 cup Chocolate Ganache ( See the recipe here )
- Maple syrup to pour over ( optional )
- A pinch of salt
Method:
- Beat the egg with vanilla essence, salt and sugar till frothy.
- Sieve the flour in a bowl and gradually add the egg mixture.
- Now, add the milk and water to this mix and fold in to make a fine batter of pouring consistency
- Strain the batter at this stage, if you want. I didnt do that and it worked fine for me
- Now, drizzle some butter on Griddle and spread the batter like a Dosa over it. Cook for both sides till brown spots start appearing.
- Fill it with a layer of Chocolate Ganache, sprinkle some icing sugar and drizzle maple syrup if you wish, serve hot !
- Serving them cold will not serve the purpose, so try and serve it fresh
- I have used Chocolate Ganache here, you can use any other filling. Fruits with fresh cream is also a good option
- If you are using half measure of Whole wheat flour here, it might work for you. But I tried it and found that the melt in the mouth flavour was missing. So make your choice.
Crepes looks delicious and inviting.
