Eid is here and I have’nt prepared any sweet this time .. Last year I did a couple of snacks and
sweets but that was coz I was at home with ample of time for experimenting.. Though thats no excuse..
This year, I only made Besan Laddoo, but they were worth.. I have always been a big fan of Besan
Laddoos. When during festive times we got Mithayi at home, I always snatch Besan Laddoo rather
than the usual Boondi ones. Although they are delicious too, but nothins better than these warm
soft drops.. So this Eid, wish you all a warm and sweet year ahead...
Well, this is the easier version of what we call the Asli Laddoo. Those Laddoos do take a lot of
time and patience with preparations, which I didn’t have. So the quick and delicious taste of these
Laddoos..
Ingredients:
2 cups Besan
½ cup Sooji
½ cup Ghee
1 cup Sugar
1 tsp Cardamom powder
½ cup crushed almonds
Method:
Dry roast Besan and Semolina separately in a pan. This brings out the actual aroma from the
flours. You can totally skip this step and get to the next step.
Heat ghee in a deep pan, add besan and start stirring it. You have to stir it frequently at medium
flame for around 15-20 min, till your kitchen fills up with the nice aroma of the roasted Besan.
Add Sooji and stir for around 2 more min. Turn off the flame and transfer the mix into a big
bowl. Add Sugar and almonds and mix well with Spoon. Let it cool for around 3-4 min so that it
gets to a temperature where you can handle it with bare hands.
Mix cardamom powder and shape the mixture in round form with the help of your palms. Keep
them in airtight containers for around 2 weeks.
Whenever you are having them later, just micro it for 10 sec to make it warm. Enjoy !!
