Cherry Crumble : English treat

Its said '' The British Empire was created as a by-product of generations of desperate Englishmen roaming the world in search of a decent meal ''..No offence !!

I don't know about past, but the current food market here in the UK is quite fine. They have a good range of desserts including all European, Scottish, English delicacies and I totally love them. As am so much in the process of baking these days, I have started trying smaller and easier recipes first. So this time I tried a very simple yet tempting dessert recipe. Cherry crumble .. Cherries are in season these days and are avaialable in abondance. These little rolls are rich in antioxidants, flavour and nutrition. Its mandatory to try them fresh in the season.

Crumbles can be made with a variety of fruits like Strawberries, pears, cranberries and even apples. I have tried it with strawberries and cherries and both the time it came out to be just perfect. Frozen cherries can also be used in this recipe, though I have used fresh ones. The best way to have a crumble is with Ice cream. Its kind of works as a brownie-Ice cream combo.

I am still short of baking pans and ramekins so this one I tried in a small oven proof bowl.
A treat

Ingredients:
1. 1 1/2 cup cherries, pitted and chopped
2. 1/4 cup Brown sugar + 2 tsp Sugar
3. 1 tsp Lemon juice
4. 1/4 cup All purpose flour
5. 1/4 cup Rolled Oats
6. 2 tsp Butter , at room temperature
7. A pinch of cinnamon

Method: Preheat the oven at 190 degrees
1. Mix together cherries, 2 tsp Sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon and pour in the baking bowl.
2. Bake in the oven for 5 min.
3. Meanwhile, mix oats, flour, sugar and butter and stir well to make a crumbly mixture.
4. Take out the bowl from the oven and spread the flour mix over the caramelized cherries. Press it evenly.
5. Bake again for 30-35 min or till the upper layer gets light brown.
6. Enjoy it warm straight from the oven. Top it with spoonful of Ice cream and drool over the perfect taste  :)

before going into oven
